HDDScan isn't working for me, returns all bad blocks, I think there may be an issue doing it over USB. You can buy good new quality drives on sale for -16/TB, most with 3-5 year warranties. So depends on what price you're willing to pay. Some vendors offer a warranty on used drives, but it's usually through the reseller not the original manufacturer, so depends on whether you trust the reseller or not and if reduced cost it worth it to you.
